Head of Broker Services


The Role

Our ideal candidate will have experience in building and successfully growing Broker business and teams in the Commercial Finance Industry specialising in Leasing and Asset Finance, with a can-do positive attitude and able to work proactively and consistently to deliver added value. With a work ethic that drives you to get results, you will manage our broking operations team, our relationships with our existing Funders and identify and source new Funders where our deal flows require.

You will understand the importance of excellent Funder relationships and ensuring adherence to trading terms and compliance requirements in a highly regulated company. You will understand the importance of excellent relationships with our Sales and Risk teams and delivering value to our customer and vendor relationships. Ideally, you are currently working in a senior management position in a fast-growing commercial finance broker or lender, so you will be accustomed to working in a dynamic environment.


We are looking for an ambitious, dynamic and passionate senior manager to create and articulate a Funder plan across our Asset, Retail and Vendor Finance broker activities.

This role is a full-time appointment, based in our Head Office in Newport, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and directly contributing to our continued growth.

The Head of Broker Services will be responsible for building strong 2-way relationships, at multiple levels (executive, relationship owner, transactional) with our Funders; for agreeing risk appetite and transaction preferences, matching Funders to deals and building the internal capability to ensure consistency of process for all brokered business.

With line management responsibility for the Broker Desk team, you will provide them with coaching, performance management and talent development as well as recruitment when required.

As a member of the management team you will be expected to take the lead on agreeing business flows, volume and conversion aspirations and price and commission terms with our Funders.

You will be responsible for owning and understanding our Funders documentation, our warranties and obligations and for operationalizing these.

Working closely with our analytics team you will build a regular suite of MI and reporting.

Supported by our Executive team, you will proactively hold regular reviews with our Funders, articulating how our broker activities complement our own book activities in a way that our Funders understand where they fit and to give them confidence in our business model.


Skills and Qualifications:

An effective relationship builder and people manager who is a great team player with a desire to succeed.

Previous relevant experience more than 3 years successfully broking deals and managing a team within Leasing and Asset Finance.

Proficient in financial and process management, strategy, objectives, structure and business processes.

Proven social skills for internal matters, such as giving strategic advice to management and the Board, leading a team that operates internally and externally, and working proactively with our various Sales teams.

Social skills for external matters, such as building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with Funders and other stakeholders.

Detailed knowledge of requirements to successfully place transactions with Funders within timescales that meet customers’ requirements is essential.

Detailed knowledge of the risks associated with Asset Finance lending and Leasing.

Detailed knowledge of Asset Finance products and Leasing.

Detailed understanding of banking and asset finance laws including GDPR, Anti Money Laundering, Consumer Credit Act, Companies Acts and related legislation.

A thorough understanding of the UK Leasing and Asset Finance market and participants.

Excellent analytical and numeracy skills.

Demonstrable experience of working well under pressure and providing timely and accurate solutions to business opportunities and challenges.
