Dan Morgan from our Henry Howard Vendor Finance geared up for a ‘marathon’ effort recently, as he embarked on a week of running in aid of Home-Start Monmouthshire.
Dan ran to and from work on five consecutive days to raise money for the independent charity, which provides support to families in Monmouthshire with children under five years old who are struggling with stress or financial difficulties.
The 13.5 mile-long route began in Chepstow, and followed the A48 before leading to the finish line at the Henry Howard Finance offices in Langstone. The feat totalled an impressive 135 miles each over the course of the week – or just over five marathons.
Fundraising efforts were organised through a Just Giving page and raised more than £1,000 for the charity. According to Home-Start, £320 can train a volunteer to allow them to work with a family, while £1,500 can support a family for an entire year.
Mr Morgan also ran four marathons last March, raising an additional £800 for the charity. Commenting on the experience Dan said: “I wanted to do something a bit more challenging in 2017. The work that Home-Start does is invaluable and whilst the task was tough, it was for a hugely worthwhile cause.’’
Mark Crook, group chief executive officer of Henry Howard Finance, added: “We’re pleased to donate £135 to the cause, and I’d like to congratulate Dan for his efforts in raising money for Home-Start. Without this kind of support, the charity would not be able to provide the vital services it gives to local families.
